What is Kanna Extract?
Share
Kanna extract is derived from the plant Sceletium tortuosum, also known as kanna or channa. This succulent plant is native to South Africa and has a history of traditional use by indigenous peoples. The extract is typically obtained from the leaves and stems of the plant.
Kanna extract is known for its psychoactive properties, including mood enhancement and stress relief. It contains alkaloids that interact with the brain's receptors, potentially providing calming effects. Some users report increased relaxation, improved mood, and stress reduction after consuming kanna extract.
What is kanna extract?
Great question- kanna extract comes in many forms. But essestially any herbal in a concentrated form is considered an extract.
Kanna Extract often comes in two forms- a type of brown powder often sold as a 10x, 100x, 200x type of thing which is often quite questionable in quality, sourcing etc.
Or Kanna extract can come as a off-white or light tan powder / almost white. This is often the more legitimate stuff, these will have laboratory names such as MT55, XK6, VU3, MZO etc. These are the names for the extract procedure / batch.
The kanna extract will contain likely much higher amounts of the necessary alkaloids we all look for in an extract - mesembrine, mesembrenone, delta 7 mesembrine etc...
It's worth noting that while kanna extract is available as a supplement, its safety and efficacy can vary. As with any herbal supplement, it's essential to use caution and consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating it into your routine, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are taking other medications. Additionally, regulations on herbal supplements may vary by region, so it's essential to be aware of local guidelines.
