History & Traditional Use
Sceletium tortuosum, also known as kanna, is a succulent herb traditionally used by indigenous South African tribes to enhance mood, reduce stress, and promote mental clarity. Native to arid regions of South Africa, kanna has been used for centuries in social and spiritual rituals for its calming and euphoric effects.
Product Description:
Healing Herbals' Native Sceletium Extract is a rare, high-potency formulation crafted in South Africa. What sets this blend apart is its unique A4 Sceletium alkaloid profile delivering fast-acting, balanced effects for both relaxation and focus.
This is not your standard Sceletium. Featuring 2.8% total alkaloids with an exceptionally high 87% Mesembrine, this extract supports both serotonin and dopamine pathways for improved mood, energy, and clarity.
Active Alkaloid Breakdown:
- Mesembrine (87%) – Stimulating; supports serotonin & dopamine release
- Mesembrenone (6%) – Calming; acts as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor
- Delta-7-Mesembrenone (4%) – Enhances calm via entourage effect
- A4 Sceletium – Rare alkaloid offering immediate calming & mood-lifting effects
Together, these compounds deliver a unique synergy of stimulation and tranquility—ideal for improving daily performance and emotional balance.

This is my fourth different extract from these guys and the effects of this one are phenomenal. Calm, focused, good mood, absolute game changer for my morning routine before work. Effects are felt nearly instantly and seemed to last at least 4-5 hours before I re-dosed with MT-55 in the middle of the day for an energy boost. Most of the higher mesembrine extracts give me kinda a rush and can be a little uncomfortable at points of the come up but this was 100% smooth sailing.
It works better the more you use it. I love it, super clean and great effects. Yummy flavor as well. Thank yall.
I don’t normally make reviews on things but I just want to say here that everything about this Native Kanna Extract is legit. That A4 Sceletium was Very interesting and really does hit immediately. After the come up everything just felt good, truly a uniquely calming, focusing, and mood-enhancing experience! For experienced users who haven’t tried it yet, do not underestimate it. I also enjoyed mixing it with other kanna extracts that I had. I will definitely be getting this again and again!!!
I give this a three because I can neither rate it high or low. I don’t feel any effect one way or the other from this product. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the product, but rather it’s not a match for my physiology.

History of Kanna
This revered herb, indigenous to South Africa, has played a
significant role in the lives of the local people, particularly the
Khoikhoi and the San tribes, since prehistoric times. These tribes,
initially hunter-gatherers, used Kanna for various purposes including
relief from thirst and hunger, to combat fatigue, and for social and
spiritual purposes. They had a profound connection with the plant,
associating it with the sacred eland antelope and referring to it by the
same name: 'kanna'.
The first isolation of an alkaloid from Sceletium tortuosum was in 1898 by
Meiring, who called it mesembrine. This discovery led to a deeper
understanding of the plant's chemical composition, though its exact
composition remains elusive.
Kanna's long-standing history
reflects its significance in South African culture and its evolving role
in global herbal medicine and recreational use. From its traditional
roots to modern applications, Kanna has remained a plant of great
interest and value.
