Cat's Claw Dual Extract Resin

Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is one of the best-known botanicals native to the Amazon rainforest. This Dual Extract Resin is produced using both hot water and food-grade alcohol extraction before being carefully concentrated into a thick botanical resin. The result is a full-bodied extract that captures a broad spectrum of naturally occurring plant compounds in a convenient, concentrated form.

Its rich consistency and concentrated profile make it an excellent choice for those who prefer extracts over raw powders or teas.

About This Resin

Unlike traditional powdered bark, this extract has already undergone a dual extraction process. Water and alcohol each dissolve different naturally occurring constituents within the plant, and combining both methods produces a more complete botanical extract before it is concentrated into resin.

Because it is concentrated, only a small amount is typically needed compared to raw plant material.

Chemistry

Cat's Claw naturally contains a diverse range of phytochemicals, including:

• Pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs)

• Tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOAs)

• Quinovic acid glycosides

• Polyphenols

• Proanthocyanidins

• Triterpenes

These compounds are naturally present in Uncaria tomentosa and continue to be the subject of phytochemical research. As with many botanicals, the exact composition can vary depending on growing conditions, harvest timing, and extraction methods.

Dual Extraction Process

Traditional herbal preparations often rely on water extraction, while other naturally occurring plant constituents are more readily extracted using alcohol.

Our dual extraction process combines both methods before concentrating the finished extract into a resin. This approach is commonly used for botanicals containing both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds.

Suggested Use

Because this is a concentrated botanical extract, begin with a small serving.

First-Time Users

• Start with approximately 50–100 mg

• Mix into warm water, tea, or another beverage if desired

• Increase gradually over time based on personal preference

Individual preferences and responses vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dual extract resin?

A dual extract resin is produced by extracting a botanical with both water and alcohol before concentrating the finished extract into a thick resin. This method is commonly used to capture a broader range of naturally occurring plant compounds.

---

How is the resin different from Cat's Claw powder?

Cat's Claw powder is simply ground plant material. A dual extract resin is a concentrated extract, so a much smaller amount is generally needed compared to the raw herb.

---

Why is the resin thick or sticky?

The thick texture is a natural result of concentrating the botanical extract. Consistency may vary slightly with temperature, and the resin may soften when gently warmed.

---

Storage

Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

If the resin becomes firm in cooler temperatures, allow it to warm naturally before use.
