Kava Leaf Pre Roll
Kava Leaf Pre Roll is kava in a cone. A sustainable farm in Hawaii cultivates Piper methysticum and prepares the leaves, rolled here into a ready-to-light cone. It is versatile: smoke it, break it open and steep the leaf as tea, or use a pinch sublingually.
At a glance
- Kava leaf in a ready-to-light cone, not a tobacco product
- Grown on a sustainable farm in Hawaii, where kava is called 'awa
- No kavalactone percentage stated for the leaf
- Available as 1 preroll or in packs of 3, 5 and 10 prerolls
The herb. Kava, Piper methysticum, is a shrub in the pepper family, grown throughout the Pacific from Vanuatu, Fiji and Tonga to Hawaii, where it is called 'awa. The root has long been an evening drink; the leaf was never part of the traditional bowl, so smoking it is modern.
What's in it. The cone is kava leaf, not tobacco, with no kavalactone percentage stated. Its six kavalactones split into two groups:
- Kavain and dihydrokavain: the heady group, quick and uplifting
- Methysticin and dihydromethysticin: the heavy group, slower and body-focused
- Yangonin and desmethoxyyangonin: filling out the session
Leaf carries a different balance from root, away from the heavy compounds.
How to use. No serving is printed, so start small. Take one or two gentle draws, put it out, and wait fifteen to twenty minutes before more. To steep instead, use 1 to 2 teaspoons of leaf per 8 oz of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Keep it away from meals.
What to expect. Heady, bright and aromatic, coming on quickly, with herbal, slightly peppery smoke. It is not a substitute for a bowl of root; for that heaviness see our Instant Kava 6.62% Kavalactones, and the same leaf is sold loose as Dried Kava Leaf (Piper Methysticum).
Safety. Smoke can irritate the throat and lungs, so keep draws small and stop if you cough. A tingling mouth is normal; too much leaf can bring light nausea. Heavy long-term use can cause dry, flaky skin that clears on stopping.
- Kava has been linked to rare cases of liver injury; do not use with a liver condition or medications affecting the liver
- Keep alcohol, sedatives and benzodiazepine medications out of the picture; do not drive until you know your response
- Not for use if pregnant or nursing; adults 21+ only, kept away from children
Ingredients and storage. Dried kava leaf (Piper methysticum), hand rolled in a paper cone. Store in a sealed tube or tin in a cool, dry, dark place.
