Pure Akuammine Isolate

Akuammine Isolate is the purified primary alkaloid from Picralima nitida, the West African tree whose seeds are sold as akuamma. Whole akuamma seed and standard seed extracts carry akuammine alongside pseudo-akuammigine, akuammidine and a handful of related alkaloids. This is the single compound on its own, with the plant matter and the rest of the alkaloid profile removed.

It is a fine off-white to pale tan powder. Because it is an isolate rather than a seed powder, the working amounts are a fraction of what people are used to with akuamma. Weigh it on a milligram scale.

What Is Akuammine?

Akuammine is an indole alkaloid and the most abundant alkaloid in akuamma seed, typically making up a little over half the total alkaloid content. In West Africa the seed has a long history of traditional use, and akuammine is the compound most often pointed to when people describe the seed's character.

In a full seed or seed extract, akuammine sits in a mix. Isolating it gives a standardized, repeatable starting point instead of the batch-to-batch swing you get with ground seed.

Chemistry

Akuammine is a monoterpenoid indole alkaloid with the molecular formula C22H26N2O4 and a molar mass near 382 g/mol. It is structurally related to the other Picralima alkaloids, including pseudo-akuammigine, akuammidine, akuammicine and akuammiline.

Research on akuammine and the rest of the akuamma alkaloids is still limited and ongoing.

Effects

Individual response varies with serving size, body chemistry and prior experience.

  • A grounded, settled feeling
  • Physical ease
  • Mild relaxation without much sedation at lower amounts
  • Bitter taste, so most people capsule it or mix it into something

Start low. Because this is an isolated compound, small changes in serving size show up clearly.

Dosage

First-Time Users

  • Start at 20 to 40 mg
  • Wait at least 2 hours before considering more
  • Step up slowly across future sessions, not within the same one

Experienced Users

Most settle somewhere in the 40 to 80 mg range depending on response. A milligram scale is not optional here. Eyeballing an isolate is how people get it wrong.

Onset & Duration

Onset is commonly 30 to 60 minutes, and the experience usually runs 3 to 5 hours. Metabolism, serving size and whether it was taken with food all shift that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as akuamma seed powder?

No. Akuamma seed powder is ground whole seed and contains the full alkaloid profile plus plant material. This is the isolated akuammine alkaloid, which is far more concentrated by weight.

How does it compare to your akuamma seed extract?

The seed extract is a full-spectrum concentrate of everything in the seed. The isolate is one compound, standardized, so you get the same starting point every time.

Do I need a scale?

Yes. Use a milligram scale accurate to 1 mg. Volumetric dosing in a liquid also works well at these amounts.

Do you sell this in bulk?

Yes. The 50 gram and 100 gram sizes are priced for wholesale and formulation buyers. For anything above 100 grams, reach out and we will put a quote together.

At a glance

  • Purified akuammine, the primary alkaloid of Picralima nitida seed
  • Fine off-white to pale tan powder
  • Plant matter and the other seed alkaloids removed
  • Standardized and repeatable, unlike ground seed
  • Needs a milligram scale, working amounts are small
  • Bulk 50 and 100 gram sizes for formulation buyers
  • Adults 21 and over

Isolate, extract or whole seed. Three formats of the same plant, and the difference is how much of the seed comes with the alkaloid:

  • Whole seed: ground Picralima nitida, full alkaloid profile plus all the plant material. Bulky, very bitter, and it varies seed to seed. See whole akuamma seed.
  • Seed extract: a full-spectrum concentrate of everything in the seed, with the bulk removed. See the seed extract resin and the seed extract powder.
  • Isolate: this listing. One compound, nothing else, which is why it is the only one of the three you can measure the same way twice.

Working with an isolate. A milligram scale accurate to 1 mg is the baseline, and volumetric measuring in a liquid works well at these amounts: dissolve a known weight into a known volume and measure by millilitre instead of by scoop. Weigh your capsules empty before filling if you are capping it, because the bitterness is severe enough that most people do.

Storage. Sealed, cool, dry and dark, away from direct sunlight, with a desiccant packet. A fine isolate powder cakes if it takes on moisture, and caked powder cannot be weighed accurately at these amounts.

Related products. Other single-compound isolates in the range include Kavain Isolate, Muscimol Isolate, Honokiol Isolate and L-THP Isolate. Everything is in Botanical Extracts.

Common questions

  • Why does an isolate need a scale when seed powder does not? Seed powder is mostly plant material, so a small error is a small error. An isolate is the active compound alone, so the same spoon error is a large one.
  • What colour should it be? Off-white to pale tan. Both are normal for this compound.
  • Can I dissolve it instead of weighing every time? Yes. Volumetric measuring, a known weight into a known volume of liquid, is accurate and convenient at these amounts.
  • Is there research on akuammine? Limited and ongoing. We do not make claims beyond the chemistry and the traditional record of the seed.
  • Do you quote above 100 grams? Yes, get in touch and we will put a quote together.
