Disposable Tea Filter Bags, 4 x 6 in Drawstring (Fill Your Own)

Disposable Tea Filter Bags are the big open-top bags you scoop loose herb straight into, then pull the drawstring closed. At 4 by 6 inches they hold a real serving of loose leaf, a whole pot of kava or a quart of cold brew, not the pinch a standard tea bag takes. The fine white filter paper keeps small particles out of your cup without slowing the steep.

What it is. A disposable filter bag made from white food-safe filter paper that adds no taste, with a cotton drawstring sewn along the top. You fill it, pull the string, and the bag closes around the herb like a large tea bag. It is the same bag we use behind the bar for pots of tea and single-serve kava.

How to use it. Scoop in the herb, cinch the string, drop it in the mug or the pitcher. For a single cup use about a tablespoon of loose leaf tea. For kava, fill one with root powder and knead it in warm water the way you would with a strainer bag, then lift it out. For cold brew, one bag in a quart jar overnight in the fridge. When you are done the whole thing goes in the compost or the trash, no strainer to clean.

Goes with. For full kava batches a reusable fine nylon strainer bag takes the kneading better, and an unbleached #4 cone filter polishes out the silt after. Keep the loose herb itself in resealable kraft bags or 2 oz glass jars. All of it is in Accessories and DIY Supplies.

Common questions

• Are these open-top or sealed? Open top with a drawstring. You fill them yourself and pull them closed.
• Will fine powder leak through? Very fine extract powder can seep a little, as with any tea bag. Cut and sifted leaf, flower and root stay put.
