Silica Gel Desiccant Packets are the small moisture packets we drop into extract jars before they ship. Extract powders pull water out of the air, and a damp powder clumps, sticks to the scoop and weighs wrong. One 1 gram packet in a 1 or 2 oz jar keeps the contents dry and free-flowing for months.

What it is. Silica gel is an inert, non-toxic mineral that soaks up water vapor from the air around it. The packet keeps the beads contained so nothing touches your product. It does not add anything to the jar and has no smell.

How to use it. Drop one packet into any jar, bag or capsule bottle you open and close often. Use two in a large bag or in a humid room. To recharge, spread the packets on a tray in a 200 F oven for about an hour, cool, and reuse. Swap them out every few months if you would rather not bake them.

Common questions

• Is it safe if the packet touches the herb? Yes. Food safe silica is inert and the beads stay inside the packet. Do not eat the packet itself.
• How do I know when it is used up? These plain white beads do not change color. Recharge in the oven or replace on a schedule.
